Lou Williams Agrees To Three-Year, $24M Extension With Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers signed Williams to a multiyear contract extension Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time), rewarding the NBA's best scorer off the bench with the long-term security he sought.

As the Clippers have dealt with a myriad of injuries to their roster this season, Williams has played a large part in keeping the team afloat. At least four teams are reported to have interest in Evans.

Los Angeles now sits a half game out of the playoffs behind the New Orleans Pelicans. Williams is averaging 23.3 points per game this season, easily the best in his 14 years in the National Basketball Association. However, this deal does make the chances of Jordan sticking around a little more likely.

It. doesn't? At least not immediately.

More than a week after the Blake Griffin trade, it's apparent that the Clippers' rebuild will be happening on their own terms.

If one of these teams does offer a first-rounder to the Clippers in exchange for Williams, the team should pull the trigger immediately.

Currently, Williams is earning $7 million in the final year of his contract.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams is officially off the trade market.

Williams scored a career-high 50 points, including a franchise record 37 second-half points in a January 10 road win over the Golden State Warriors, the highest scoring performance by a Clipper since Charles Smith tied a franchise record with 52 points on December 1, 1990.
