New Lions head coach Patricia will keep Cooter

He has previously worked as an offensive line coach in Denver, San Diego, Minnesota, Cleveland and New England.

Matt Patricia was officially introduced as the new head coach of the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, and the former defensive coordinator has cleaned up his look a bit for the newest chapter in his career.

Pro Football Talk reported on Sunday night (before the Super Bowl had even ended) that the foregone conclusion for weeks (McDaniels to the Colts as their new head coach) might not be such a layup anymore. Patricia also wanted to join an organization that would allow him a relationship with ownership.

"I'm very much appreciative and thankful to be the head coach of the Detroit Lions", Patricia said.

Before the Patriots had returned to Gillette Stadium from the Super Bowl, changes already were underway.

During this season, the Patriots ranked fifth in points allowed in the league at 18.5 per game but were near the bottom in yards allowed per game (29th, 366.0) and yards allowed per play (31st, 5.7). "I feel awful for the guys in the locker room because they're the ones that put in all that work".

Winston Moss: Green Bay Packers associate head coach and linebackers coach since 2015. The juicy reason for him to potentially leave Indy in the dust is that he would become the Patriots' head coach in the event that Bill Belichick happened to retire sooner than most had expected. Following a stop in St. Louis as the Rams coordinator in 2011, he returned to New England in 2012. He has been with the Patriots since 2004, when he was hired as an offensive assistant.

Specifically, Patricia said that he and Quinn are of the same mind in terms of player evaluation and roster development. "At that point, the strategic part of the game along with my coaching aspirations just kind of put things in motion". We didn't do a great job of trying to execute. The defensive end was one of two lineman in the country to rack up 100 or more tackles, practically tripling his sophomore year total.

Fresh off their Super Bowl LII loss, New England Patriots assistants are moving on.

"Not at this current moment".

"It was just a really good alignment", Quinn said of the shared football philosophies between he and Patricia. "I'm not going to tell you what the answer was", Wood said.
