Only hope: Wenger going full strength in Europa League

Arsenal main summer signing Alexandre Lacazette is going to be absent from the Arsenal squad for up to 4 weeks after picking up a knee injury this week.

The French striker has scored nine goals from 29 appearances in all competitions this season, and now has competition from the former Borussia Dortmund star.

The minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation.

Arsene Wenger admitted losing Saturday's north London derby to Tottenham Hotspur has made it even more hard for Arsenal to achieve a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

Arsene Wenger conceded Arsenal's hopes of ending their Champions League exile are in severe danger after Harry Kane condemned them to a damaging 1-0 defeat against bitter rivals Tottenham.

Lacazette has had an odd pattern for playing time.

The Gunners managed to create some new-found positivity surrounding their top-four challenge earlier this month after Arsenal were 5-1 winners against Everton at The Emirates.

It will be interesting to see if Wenger sticks to his habit of fielding a reserve team for the Europa League matches. They don't understand. I completely agree with them because they want to play. And with fourth place in the Premier League looking more distant, the continent's second competition is a potential route back into the Champions League, as shown by Manchester United last season. "You will not have 10 chances; if you don't take them, you will suffer at the end of the day".

For Tottenham, however, it was a promising sign considering the fact that a slow start to the game cost them Liverpool's opener last week.

"Overall, when you have two or three opportunities like we had in the final part of the game, you have to take your chances".
