Snow and freezing rain on the way for southern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the entire Halifax region as a low-pressure system makes its way across the province Sunday and into Monday.

"There will be a lull in the precipitation for much of the night before yet another disturbance moves into the area early Sunday morning", says the national weather service.

Although the freezing rain will likely persist for several hours, ice accumulations are expected to be limited to a few millimetres.

Roads, sidewalks, bridges and parking lots may become slippery. "Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions".

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

It's expected the rain will change to flurries later Sunday afternoon or evening.

The snow should end by Sunday evening, EC claims.
