Everton fans salute wideman after Brighton victory - 'Outstanding'

Having collected the ball from Leighton Baines just inside the box in the 76th minute, Tosun cracked a shot in off the bar to double the Toffees' lead.

Tosun recorded a second goal in successive games during Saturday's 2-0 win over Brighton with a superb finish to put the game beyond doubt.

That was a week after the Turkey striker, signed in January from Besiktas for a reported fee of £27million, opened his Everton account at Burnley.

"And the second goal is why we bought the lad from Turkey, why we brought Cenk into the club".

"As a manager and a coach, you try to raise your players for every game but it's very hard against good opposition". It's probably what we are - a first with our first season in this division - where we're playing week in, week out against very good sides. "We all felt it, I think you do".

"I was anxious it was going to hit the crossbar and bounce back out!"

Brighton's five-match unbeaten run ended and it dropped a place to 11th.

Allardyce also confirmed that Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye missed the win through illness, adding: 'We knew Morgan was ill and I think Gana has caught the same bug so first thing this morning we got the call that he couldn't make it so we had a little think about it.

Brighton had barely been in the game from an attacking point of view but they forced the first save from either goalkeeper when Glenn Murray belted one from 25 yards that Jordan Pickford had to parry away with two strong fists.

The home side might have been expected to carry the greater threat but the extent of their dominance, particularly in the first half, was surprising. I feel like I have settled into England as well and I hope I can keep going like this and keep scoring goals.
