Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Duke Blue Devils ATS Preview 03/08/18

It's recently resurrected senior leader, Bonzie Colson, appeared a worn out, shell of himself after missing almost two months with a broken foot. The Fighting Irish went just 8-10 in ACC play and have an iffy current RPI of 65, but they also have hope that the selection committee will take the unusual circumstances surrounding that record into consideration.

Bonzie Colson's 18 points, Martinas Geben's 14 points and Matt Farrell's 11 points and 12 assists led 10th-seeded Notre Dame (20-14), which shot 5-for-23 from 3-point range. But in the month of March, inexplicable things tend to pile up in droves.

Bagley, the ACC player of the year as a freshman, had game highs of 33 points and 17 rebounds Thursday night as second-seeded Duke raced past Notre Dame 88-70 at Barclays Center.

"I think you just want to continue to grow as a team", Aoki said. "He made a couple, and I just said to myself, wow, he's really good".

Bagley dominated the second half, hitting 11 of his 12 shots. With 22 points on 5-for-13 shooting, Matt Farrell was the top scorer from either team.

Notre Dame kept it close for the opening moments of the 2nd half.

"They do the talking in the huddles now", Brey said. He is the only player in Division-I who can say that. Obviously you guys went kind of cold there; what do you think kind of changed from that standpoint?

"I just tried to tell them the importance of going all-out". Notre Dame was able to score 17 points off of turnovers and 10 second chance points throughout the game. As expected, BC, namely Bowman, went out with a fight, racking up 16 points in the game's final stages, but the Tigers hit 14 of their last 16 free throws and held on for a 90-82 victory. Duke led 41-37 but the Notre Dame had the momentum. This one likely stings for Irish fans given Notre Dame won the regular season matchup on the road without Colson and Farrell. Devon Hall went for 14 points and five assists. Superb play-making helped to overcome a 40.8 percent shooting performance by the Tar Heels, including a ghastly 1-of-15 shooting night by Luke Maye. "I saw the show he put on". "We've got to start games like that".

Notre Dame and Virginia Tech will meet for the ninth time on Sunday with the Irish holding an 8-0 all-time advantage.

And one night after staging the biggest comeback in school history, erasing a 21-point second-half deficit to beat Virginia Tech, the Irish hung in for a while against the Blue Devils.

Louisville did cut into the Virginia lead during a second half run, getting back within four points, but the precision of the Cavaliers ultimately won out.

Duke thrives on the guys that may not be showing up on college campuses anymore, not if Adam Silver and the National Basketball Association have anything to say about it, and Bagley is the flawless example of that. "I've never been prouder of a group, because they were thumping us pretty good". The senior guard, who has emerged as one of the Tigers' primary offensive weapons since Donte Grantham suffered a season-ending ACL tear back in January, scored from everywhere on the floor, notching a game-high 25 points. This time around, he said, it's a whole different ballgame. Just as the game was slipping away from head coach Jim Christian and Co., Jordan Chatman drained back-to-back 3-pointers-a sequence that revitalized BC's offense.
