Pep Guardiola´s Monday blues has nothing to do with Wigan

Guardiola's side need a maximum of 12 points from their final nine matches to secure his first league title in England, having left their domestic rivals trailing this season.

However, the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss expressed his dislike for Monday games - a source of frustration for City this season following a shock FA Cup loss to League One outfit Wigan Athletic on that day, while they were held by Everton in the Premier League in August.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been fined £20,000 for wearing a yellow ribbon on the touchline during the FA Cup defeat at Wigan.

Manchester City's manager says that he would much prefer to face Stoke City this weekend, rather than having to wait until all of the other Premier League sides have played their latest round of matches.

"We were lucky last season to win there".

"The players are off today so I do not know the exact situation".

City have nearly three weeks without a game after their trip to Stoke, with Guardiola planning to take his players on a short training break to Abu Dhabi.

"Some of them are better. Fabian Delph is like this, like that (uncertain)", Guardiola told reporters on Friday.

The Citizens have been backed as the odds-on favourites to win this year's Champions League trophy, while also being on track to cruise to the Premier League title.

"Instead of being here, where we have been fighting for eight months with the weather, we will go there and train the same way but in better conditions", he said. They also have a chance to become the first team to break the 100-points barrier in the history of the English top flight.

"Just be relaxed, be calm and focus on Stoke". They suffered their heaviest defeat of the current campaign at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season when they were beaten 7-2 by City.
