Weather Forecast For The San Francisco Bay Area

North winds of 15 to 20 mph will increase to 23 to 28 mph in the afternoon, with gusts up to 47 mph. Always consider them energized and risky, even if you do not see sparks or hear the lines snapping. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Areas of most concern are along the coasts, where winds will be higher and flooding with erosion is expected.

Little to no accumulation is expected.

The "strong and dangerous" coastal storm is expected to dump up to 4 inches of rain on parts of region, cause flooding and knock out power.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 44. The strongest winds will be Friday afternoon through Friday evening, NWS said.

Wind gusts of 63 miles per hour. had been recorded in Charlestown, 54 in Newport and 51 in Providence.

High winds will begin early Friday morning, and will be at their strongest from about midday through Friday night, with winds persisting into Saturday. Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.

Clouds thickened the first half of Thursday, but they didn't prevent another mild day across the area, as temperatures climbed well into the 50s and even touched 60 degrees for some.

The cooler pattern should persist through next week as well with high temperatures remaining in the mid 40s, about average for early March.

Monday, expect a 30 percent chance of showers before noon, with a high near 54, the weather service said. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27. The peak will likely be from just before sunrise Friday until midday, but there could be additional rounds of gusts, especially in higher elevations, right through Friday night and into Saturday.

The wind will stay gusty through Saturday before quieting down on Sunday.

Monday night, the low will be around 31 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Wednesday - A chance of snow showers.
