West Ham fans invade pitch in EPL drubbing

Burnley did not play that badly during their three-month winless run, as they drew more games (six) than they lost (five) and three of the defeats were against Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United.

"It is essential that everybody who plays or attends a Premier League football match can do so safely", it said.

Weak throughout the spine of the team, West Ham's cause was not helped in the 27th minute when Winston Reid was stretchered from the pitch with a knee injury that has since ruled him out of the rest of this season.

A week that had already seen a planned protest march by fans against the club's board called off as West Ham supporters' groups fell out with each other descended into chaos at the London Stadium, with stewards failing to intervene on several occasions.

West Ham's poor form continued at full pace as the Swans gave the Hammers a hammering in a match of few positives for David Moyes. I think the first goal was always going to be crucial today, whoever got it, the former Everton chief remarked. We didn't do so well for a couple of minutes in the second half. I wouldn't use that as an excuse for me after it, but I certainly don't think it helped.

West Ham United's Mark Noble clashes with a fan who has invaded the pitch.

"Because I think if you look at the majority of the teams around them, I think West Brom - and probably West Brom supporters as well have probably written them off to a certain extent - I think Stoke's supporters a lot of them are probably looking at it and think it's going to be really tough".

"But the rule is that you can not come on to the pitch - you're not allowed".

West Ham's ageing wing-backs have failed to provide either the energy needed for their role or the experience which should be a given for two players with plenty of history behind them in the game. You've just got to pick up points when you can. This is the first time we have got 40 points this early, so it's about finding new challenges and getting even more points. So we need to find a way of making sure we're doing that.

"Joe made a mistake - we can't dress that up in any different way", added Moyes.
