Quincy School Board makes other personnel moves

1 year, 5 months ago by

No teachers will be let go for economic reasons next year

The Quincy School Board also made other personnel announcements.

Superintendent Steve Cobb announced Wednesday said no staff cuts for economic reasons would be needed for the next school year as the district would save money through retirements and resignations.

Cobb said the District is looking at 17 retirements and 18 resignations that should save anywhere between $400,000 and $500,000.

The Board voted to fire John D. Wimsett as a certified special education teacher “for non-economic reasons.”

The board reached a settlement and received the resignation of William G. Twaddle of the Quincy Area Vocation-Technical Center. The agreement between Twaddle and QSD 172 cites "claims, disputes and matters of controversy" between the two.

Twaddle resigned from QPS on Tuesday and will receive $27,642, which is eight months of his salary through the end of November.
