New restaurant to go in at Quincy Regional Airport

1 year, 5 months ago by

City will give free rent for six months and then re-evaluate lease

The Quincy City Council approved a lease for another attempt at a restaurant at Quincy Regional Airport.

On Monday night, aldermen approved the leas with Pamela Root and she says she plans to open a restaurant called “Mane Runway” sometime in May.

The previous restaurant, The Runway, has been closed for more than three years.

According to the lease, Root will not have to pay rent for the first six months, but will pay utilities. If the restaurant begins to show a profit after six months, it will have to pay the City a commission based on a sliding scale from 1.5 percent to 10 percent.

Root has agreed to allow Airport Manager Jarred Hester review the businesses financial statements to determine future payments.

Mayor Kyle Moore said it was important to have a restaurant there for passengers of Cape Air and other people who utilize Quincy Regional.

Aldermen also approved an ordinance to allow digital signs in residential areas under certain conditions.

The signs are primarily for non-profit and public use facilities and will still be regulated by the City Council and the Plan Commisison.
