Schock talks pending bills, Benghazi hearings and Lois Lerner

U.S. Congressman from Illinois Aaron Schock walked with a sea of yellow-shirted supporters through the Dogwood Parade Saturday.

Schock was happy to be in Quincy.

“This is one of Quincy’s biggest events. I’m happy to say that this cycle; I’ve been able to represent all of Adams County. This is a way for me to kick of the 2014 re-election campaign with the first parade right here in Quincy.”

While discussing pending House bills in the Senate, Schock said it’s very frustrating.

“People elected us to solve problems. There’s no perfect legislation. We have two bodies of the legislature for a reason and certainly, if the senate wants to modify our legislation they should do so. But to simply just sit on the bills and to refuse to fix problems facing our country shows a lack of responsibility.”

Schock said there are over 200 pieces of legislation that are waiting to be voted on in the Senate.

“A lot of them affect our area- everything from tax reform to entitlement reform to our budget. If you’re in the agriculture industry, the EPA is tacking on more regulations. For example, regulating farm dust as a pollutant. This goes far beyond the powers of the federal government as they should be based on what our constitution says about states’ rights and individual property rights.”
