Clinic will serve more than 1,250 Knapheide employees and their families
The Knapheide Manufacturing Company will be opening its family wellness clinic on Monday, August 18 at 331 South 36th Street in Quincy.
The wellness center will provide medical services to Knapheide employees and their families on the company’s health care plan.
“Healthcare and the wellness of our employees and their families is very important to us,” Bo Knapheide, Sr. Vice President of Distributor and Fleet Operations said.
Currently, Knapheide employees more than 1,250 people in the tri-state area and have more than 2,600 people on the company’s health care plan.
“In 2013, The Knapheide Company and our employees spent over 9.3 million dollars for healthcare, and those costs continue to increase,” Jim Rubottom, VP of Human Resources said. “Employers have had to respond by raising employee premiums and redesigning benefits that increase deductibles, co-pays and other out of pocket costs to employees,” he added. “It is exciting to be opening a primary care wellness center at no cost to our employees and their dependents,” Rubottom said.
The clinic will be open five days a week. All services in the wellness center - primary care, urgent care, annual physicals, laboratory services, health and wellness screenings, chronic condition management, disease education, lifestyle coaching, patient advocacy, and more - will be free to Knapheide employees and their families on the health plan.
“By utilizing our wellness center, we can be proactive in addressing healthcare needs quicker by breaking down barriers that may be keeping people from accessing the appropriate providers,” Rubottom said.
To offer this service to employees, Knapheide has partnered with WeCare TLC. WeCare TLC is a medical management firm that develops and operates on-site and near-site primary care clinics for employers and other health plan sponsors, across the country. Currently, they manage more than 40 clinics nationwide. An employer sponsored clinic is the first of its kind in Quincy and the first operated by WeCare TLC in the state of Illinois.
“Knapheide has envisioned an employee health clinic for 20 years. We are proud that they have partnered with WeCare TLC and we look forward to bringing their vision to fruition,” said Judy Garber, RN, WeCare TLC’s President and Co-founder.
“Employers are finding that this type of healthcare model can actually reduce their healthcare costs, which makes this a win-win for our employees and for us as a company,” Rubottom said.
“As we look to the future, it is vital that quality healthcare is accessible and affordable,” Bo Knapheide said.
