14 week program leading up to race kicks off with special presentation featuring Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
QUINCY, IL – Quincy Medical Group and NuFIT For You are excited to announce the kickoff event for the 2013 Bridge the Gap Training Program. The 14 week training program is intended for runners and walkers of all skill and age levels.
This year the training program expands to include 5K, 10K, and half marathon programs for runners and walkers. Brian Pahlmann, NuFIT Personal Trainer and Physical Therapy Assistant at Quincy Medical Group and Gary Hackmann, NuFIT Personal Trainer and Certified Athletic Trainer at Quincy Medical Group, will lead the runners and Melissa Foltz, NuFIT Instructor and HMR Operations Support at Quincy Medical Group, and Tiffaney Rains, NuFIT Personal Trainer, will lead the walkers.
As part of the continued mission to improve the health of the people in our community and our focus on combating adult and childhood obesity, we invite families and groups of all ages to participate. This year, two dedicated and active young girls have stepped forward as leaders for the youth participants in the Bridge the Gap Training Program. Kate Kimber, a high school freshman, and Emily Asmann, a 4th grade student, will assist in training and support throughout the 14 weeks.
“It means a lot to me to help kids get in shape,” said Emily Asmann. “Not only does it make me feel good to exercise, it makes me feel even better knowing that I am helping my friends and other kids get outside and stay active.”
Join us on Saturday, February 2 at 9:00 am at the Kroc Center Worship Theatre for the kickoff event. Participants will meet the trainers and listen to an inspirational presentation from Jackie Joyner-Kersee. You can register for the Bridge the Gap Training Program at the kickoff event or online by visiting www.bridgethegaptohealth.com.
The cost for participation in the Bridge the Gap Training Program is $40 for an adult and $30 for children ages 18 and under and includes a t-shirt, training manual, customized training routes, support crew and constant contact with participants and trainers.
All of the proceeds from the training program benefit Quincy Catholic Charities MedAssist Program.
