City Council meets in brief session

3 years, 8 months ago by

In a brief meeting Tuesday night the Quincy City Council passed a handful of resolutions and ordinances.

The meeting, held Tuesday due to the holiday, was 12 minutes long. Quincy Mayor John Spring was absent so Fourth-Ward Republican Alderman Mike Farha was nominated to sit in as Chair.

The Council passed two resolutions. One was to sell property at 535 Lind Street to Tonia Asher-Hemming for $500. The other was to approve the low bid from Ridder's Business Supply for $15,579 for a one-year contract with the City.

Two ordinances were adopted on third readings. The 2011 Fiscal Year Budget was amended to include an increase in the airport hangar fund (#513 capital outlay-buildings) by $210,000 and dept. service - loan payments by $38,325. The other ordinance had to do with amending a portion of the City code dealing with the zoning of landmarks and historic districts to add 1845 Jersey, 200 Chestnut, 1401 North Eighth and 813 South 15th.

During new business, Sixth-Ward Republican Alderman Jim Musolino asked that the proper officials look into forming an animal control commission.

Quincy City Hall will be closed Monday to observe the New Year's holiday. Central Services will also be closed, but there will be regular garbage and recycle pick up Monday. City buses will operate on the holiday schedule on Sunday. City Council will meet again Tuesday, Jan. 3.
