The Early Tin Dusters would like to thank the City of Quincy for its outstanding support of this event as they celebrate their 37th year.

The 2012 Early Tin Dusters Color Run is scheduled for October 19-21.  Over 900 pre-1949 street rods and antique cars are expected to flood the streets of Quincy. The public is invited to view the vehicles all day Friday and Saturday in downtown Quincy, and Moorman Park on Sunday. Registration locations will be at the Holiday Inn, 48th & Oak, on Friday, and at the HQBD and Lincoln Douglas Interpretive Center, 128 N. 5th in downtown Quincy on Saturday.

New this year for the street rodders’ enjoyment is the XPLR Tour. The tour will traverse rural Adams County locations of the Golden Windmill, the Village Vineyard & Winery in Camp Point, and The Scale House--studio of artist Shelly Rasche also near Camp Point.

For the second year running, the street rodders will also be able to enjoy the Powder Coat Plus Open House & Tour from 4:30 PM to7 PM Friday, at 4126 Koch’s Lane. Back by popular demand is The Quincy Mall Car Cruise In, Friday from 5-9 PM.  The front mall parking lot will host music, contests and cars and is open to the public.

On Saturday, the street rods will show and shine in the Historic Quincy Business District along Maine and several adjoining streets, from 10 AM to 4 PM.  Many street rodders will participate in a special event, “Go for the Gold”, a contest to win gold jewelry supported by downtown businesses. Beautiful Washington Park will be the center for vendors of auto parts, crafts and food stands.

The Saturday night dance will feature music from the 50’s and 60’s at the Holiday Inn at 48th & Oak, with “Boulevard” performing for the participants.

Sunday, street rodders will participate in a “Poker Run” from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, beginning at the Holiday Inn, and ending in Moorman Park. A beautiful array of hundreds of street rods will be on display amidst the colorful fall foliage at Moorman Park from 10 AM till 2 PM. Due to liability concerns golf cart rides will no longer be available to the public. Non-denominational church services will be held in Moorman Park at 11 AM.  The event finale will be the awards ceremony scheduled for 2:30 PM.

This is the largest “no admission charged” street rod event in the Midwest and one of the largest in the country. Each year, generous street rodders and visitors donate thousands of dollars to help support Camp Callahan, a summer camp for special needs children, with $13,000 raised in 2011.  For an event brochure, contact the Quincy Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at 217-214-3700 or visit www.earlytindusters.com for a detailed schedule of events.  Next year’s event dates will be October 18-20, 2013.
