Ceramics I: Art 106 will introduce students to the complexities of the ceramic process

A ceramic class will be offered in the evening starting January 14 at John Wood Community College.  The class will be taught on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Ceramics I: Art 106 will introduce students to the complexities of the ceramic process with handbuilding, wheel throwing, glazing and firing a kiln.  The history and role ceramics play in our contemporary lives will be discussed.  Assignments will focus on problem solving and communication of ideas using the ceramic process.

"This class is ideal for individuals who want to express themselves artistically and don't mind getting dirty while learning about ceramic processes and art," said Jennifer Teter, JWCC associate instructor of ceramics and director of education at the Quincy Art Center.  Teter holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Truman State University and a master's degree in fine arts from Central Michigan University.  Her ceramic artwork is sculptural with organic influences.
