Illinois soybean acres planted up 7 percent, corn unchanged

Soybean numbers represent the highest planted acreage since 2006

From Illinois Ag Connection:

Illinois corn planted area, at 12.0 million acres, is unchanged from 2013 Harvested area for grain, at 11.8 million acres, is also unchanged from the previous year.

Soybean planted area, at 10.1 million acres, is up 7 percent from 2013. This represents the highest planted acreage in Illinois since 2006 when 10.1 million acres were planted. Harvested area, forecast at 10.05 million acres, is up 7 percent from the previous year.

Winter wheat planted area, estimated at 750,000 acres, is down 14 percent from 2013. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 690,000 acres, down 17 percent from the previous year.

Hay harvested area of all hay is expected to total 650,000 acres, down 2 percent from 2013. This consists of 320,000 acres of alfalfa and 330,000 acres of all other hay.
