X-rays showed multiple injuries to Codie Minter's son
A man will get 8-and-a-half years in jail for pleading guilty to beating his child badly enough to send him to the hospital two years ago.
Codie E. Minter made his guilty plea and was sentenced Friday morning by Judge Scott Walden.
On January 14, 2010, Minter’s six-week old son was taken to Blessing Hospital with a broken arm. Additional testing completed at Blessing Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital revealed more than 20 broken bones in various stages of healing.
The investigation by the Quincy Police Department and the Department of Children and Family Services led to an indictment being issued against Minter a month later.
Minter has spent nearly the last two years in the Adams County Jail and his residence is listed as Sumner, Illinois according to court records
Adams County State’s Attorney Jon Barnard said Minter will serve at least 85 percent of the sentence, which is a Class X felony, in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Minter gets credit for the 673 days he has already served in the Adams County Jail.
