Quincy mayor's race money trickling in

2 years, 10 months ago by Bob Gough

Both the incumbent and the challenger will be picking up the pace to fill their respective warchests

The two men running for Quincy mayor have turned in their latest quarterly campaign reports.

Quincy Mayor John Spring collected only $1,525 during the fourth quarter of 2012, but he reported a first quarter donation of $5,000 from Foresight Energy Services of St. Louis on January 11 and the quarterly report was filed on January 12. That, coupled with the $19,111 he reported on hand, puts his total at $24,111.

While that total may seem low as Spring spent nearly $200,000 on his two previous mayoral runs, he should have no problemsraising campaign funds during the first quarter leading up to the April 9 general election.

Spring’s challenger, Third Ward Republican Alderman Kyle Moore, raised $9,979 in the fourth quarter and also received $1,250 in in-kind contributions.

Moore’s cash on hand was at $36,420 as of Tuesday’s filing, but then a $5,000 contribution from State Rep. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) was posted Tuesday afternoon, to bring Moore's reported cash to $41,420
