Quincy City Council renews contract with consultant for airport

Money will be paid to Hanson Professional Services based off each project completed

The Quincy City Council renewed a five-year contract with Hanson Professional Services Inc., from Springfield, Il, as Consultant Engineer for the Quincy Regional Airport.

Hanson Professional Services will work on major engineering projects that range from airport planning to drainage issues to runway safety areas the City and airport would like to develop.

Interim Airport Director Jeff Steinkamp says, "The committee looked for the consultant engineer that was best qualified, responsible and has had the work experience for our types of projects."

Steinkamp adds money will be paid to Hanson Professional Services based off each project completed.

In other business, the council approved the purchasing of a Ford Police Sedan Interceptor from Wright Automotive, Hillsboro, IL for $23,630.92, a Ford Eco Boost Police Interceptor from Gem City Ford-Lincoln, Quincy, IL for $26,883.00 and a Dodge Charger Police Pursuit Sedan from Poage Chrysler/Dodge in Hannibal, MO for $22,293.00
for a total cost of $72,806.92 by a 13-1 vote.

The purchase of ten X26 Advanced Tasers from Ray O'Herron Co. for $9,969.50 was also approved with the recommendation from the Police Chief, Police Aldermanic Committee and Purchasing Director.

Also during the meeting, the sales tax and home rule sales tax report were received and filed by the council.

The sales tax reports showed $762,464.17 in June 2012 compared to $745,894 from June of 2011. The home rule sales tax report showed June 2012 reported $761,956.82, $399 lower than June 2011's report of $762,355.

There were baskets on display in the chambers as well. Raffle tickets were being sold for $1 a piece to be entered to win several baskets to benefit the United Way.

Baskets were put together by city hall employees and will be in the lobby until Friday.

There will be a cook out at City Hall, Friday, with BBQ, Chips, drinks, and the announcement of basket winners.

City Council will meet again Monday, September 17th at 7:30 p.m.
