Quincy mayor's race tops $200,000 in spending

Spring outspent Moore in the first quarter, according to campaign reports

As expected, spending in the Quincy's mayor's race topped $200,000 between the two campaigns.

Reports to the Illinois State Board of Elections were due on Monday.

The committee for Quincy Mayor John Spring, the two-term Democratic incumbent who lost to Republican Alderman Kyle Moore last week, received $105,455 in contributions and another $5,802 in in-kind contributions during the first quarter of 2013.

Spring spent $113,383 on his re-election effort during the first quarter. Spring spent $423 in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Moore's committee received $68,391 in contributions and $1,361 in in-kind help during the first quarter. Moore entered the quarter with $36,402 on hand.

Moore spent $81,756 during the first quarter. He spent $3,871 during the fourth quarter of 2012.

With the election being on April 9, the campaigns do not have to report expenditures that occurred during April until the second quarter report, which comes out in July.
