Quincy Convention and Visitor's Bureau annual report shows $89 million spent on local tourism

The Quincy Convention and Visitor’s Bureau says tourism spending in Adams County was up 7 percent in 2011.

As part of the QCVB’s 2012 Annual Report, tourism spending in Adams County was at $89 million for 2011.

The 7 percent increase was under the state average of 8.4 percent as Illinois saw $31.8 billion spent on tourism last year.

Hancock County tourism was up 5 percent to $25 million and Pike County was up 6 percent to $22 million.

The Hotel/Motel tax generated $793,761 in 2011. Of those funds, the QCVB gets $80,000 and the remainder goes to the Oakley-Lindsay Center and the City of Quincy.

The QCVB’s annual budget is a little more than $208,000.
