REBEL MEDIA: What are we doing here?

1 year, 2 months ago by

The City of Quincy's attempt to stay in the trash business just took a bizzare turn.

The City is looking to spend $23,000 to add tippers to the existing garbage trucks, but the trucks are in such poor shape that they can't make the trip to suburban Kansas City to install the equipment...and the company won't come to Quincy to perform the work.

So the plan appears to be to load the garbage trucks onto bigger trucks to haul them over.

Then, since these trucks are on their last legs, when they die, the City can pull the tippers from the dead trucks to put them on new trucks, of course, the carcasses of the old trucks will probably have to be hauled across our wide Missouri to have the equipment removed and added to new trucks.

Really? What the Hell are we doing here, people?

Since the City Council was so Hell bent on keeping the City in the trash business and ignoring the efficiencies of having a private hauler handle it all, then go all in and buy more than the one new truck you've committed to buy and pass the bill on to the citizens who said they wanted to stay in and give the citizens who wanted out the chance to choose their own hauler, which they are doing.

The time and money that is being wasted in figuring out how not to buy new trucks would probably pay for new trucks and those contortions are making it clear that the City should have just walked away and cut a deal with a private hauler that offered seniors some type of discount.

But, enjoy watching government in action, folks.
