Marion County Ambulance District now works with a major St. Louis area pediatric hospital
The Marion County Ambulance District is now working with the Pediatric/Neonatal Transport Team at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center to provide transport services for critically ill newborn and pediatric patients.
The service will be provided to patients and hospitals in Northeast Missouri and West Central Illinois.
The service started June 9th with a two person team based at the Marion County Ambulance district and one base in Hannibal.
The District only needed to make a few changes to house the new crew members 24 hours a day – 7 days a week.
The St. Louis crew members are specially trained and use specialized equipment with seriously ill newborn and pediatric patients.
Hospitals connected with the service include Blessing Hospital, Hannibal Regional Hospital, Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield and hospitals in Mexico, Louisiana and Lincoln County.
