State Rep. says local business owners are concerned about the proposed minimum wage hike

Illinois Republican State Representative Jil Tracy and Democratic State Senator John Sullivan took part in a business round table Monday in

During the roundtable hosted by the Quincy area Chamber of Commerce Representative Tracy said she and Senator Sullivan heard a lot of
questions from members about the Governor's State of the State Address.

"Their interest of course is to see what bills are out there or what we want to do to generate natural revenue growth in this state," Tracy said.

Tracy said business owners are very concerned over the governor's support for a minimum wage hike to $10 an hour.

"That was a very strong what can we do to make it known that this will put businesses out of business and that it will cripple the state even
further," Tracy said.

Those at the round table also asked how the legislature will address the state's $9 billion backlog of bills and its pension liabilities.

Tracy said she uses meetings like this one to help set her own agenda in Springfield.

"It gives us a really good pulse of the business group," she said.

The discussion also included talk of Obama care and insurance exchange
and how much the state may need to chip in to expanded medicaid.
