Singer-songwriter competititon to be held at ONE Restaurant

1 year, 8 months ago by

Event will be held once a month beginning in February, championship will take place in July

A recurring singer/songwriter competition will be held at ONE Restaurant and Bar beginningĀ Feb 21 at 8pm.

There will be six competitions overall, all on the third Friday of the month (through July; June's will be the second Friday). It is free to enter the competition, and there is a $150 cash prize for the winner of each competition. The winners from the first five will compete in a championship competition in July (the sixth event) where the prize money will be higher, just not know at this time.

Each event will have a theme. The first is men's, the second women's. The third is duo/duet, and the fourth is a small group (2-4 people). The fifth will be a "semi-professional" night where we hope to have established named artists appearing. It will be an acoustic guitar competition, but during the group nights, the musicians can bring any other type of instrument, except a drum set or electric guitar/bass.

The requirements to play are simple. You must play at least two, preferably three, original songs and 3-4 cover songs (six songs total). To join the competition, people can email their name, what night they wish to play, other members names (if its a group night), and either a recording or video of an original song they will sing. The email can be delivered to pulen527@gmail.com.

The best part of the night is that there will be three judges, who won't be known until after the music has concluded, voting on each individual musician...as well as the crowd. The crowd will have ballots to fill out by the stage after each musician has preformed. So the crowd can decide who wins.
