Quincy University counseling program awarded NBCC grant

1 year, 1 month ago from Quincy University

The funding is intended to benefit qualifying institutions in their quests to pursue CACREP accreditation

The Master of Science in Education in Counseling Program (MEC) at Quincy University was recently awarded one of 15 National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) grants for initial Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accreditation.

NBCC serves as the national credentialing organization for counselor certification and CACREP is the flagship accreditation body for professional counseling programs.

The funding is intended to benefit qualifying institutions in their quests to pursue CACREP accreditation with the potential for support beginning with the initial application continuing on through the site visit portion of the accreditation process.

The NBCC grant awards committee commended the MEC program’s application on several criteria including a demonstrated understanding of the CACREP process; the feasibility of timeline, goals, and challenges; and the potential for the program to graduate counselors who will serve underserved populations in need.

The three-phase grant award includes additional funding contingent upon successful completion of identified objectives and outcomes.
